Having an active interest in your personal health is vital. Make sure that you have a regular check-up with your doctor to ensure that you give yourself the best possible chance of addressing any health concerns early on.

Ensuring that you maintain a healthy lifestyle and well-balanced diet is one aspect of preventing disease. You won’t always know what is going on inside of your body and your doctor can ensure that any necessary tests and examinations are conducted if you’re concerned about anything.

Vaccination is a safe and efficient way to prevent the spread of various diseases and immunisation protects people against harmful infections before they come into contact with them. Most vaccines are administered by injection. Some are administered orally.

Child immunisations are administered at the Baralaba Hospital with child health nurse.

Every year, Baralaba Private Clinic will provide eligible patients with information and priority bookings for annual flu vaccinations.

Planning on starting a family? Your doctor can assist you with important health information and initiatives to ensure that the journey to start a family is as smooth as possible. Your doctor can ensure that regular health checks throughout the various stages of pregnancy (pre-natal) to address any concerns.

Skin cancer detection is vital. Our doctors are skilled in skin cancer excisions. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends that everyone should self-examine their skin regularly to assist with early detection of any potential skin cancers. If you come across anything that looks concerning, or are unsure of how to self-examine and what to look for, make an appointment with your doctor.

It is highly recommended that a whole-body skin check is conducted, particularly if it is your very first check, or if you haven’t had one done for quite some time. Your skin changes as you continue to expose yourself to the sun so it’s important to continue checking your skin. We are able to conduct whole body skin checks.  If you have never had your skin checked before, book in for your whole body skin check today!

A medical is an examination of your health and fitness state. This can be initiated by an employer or may be required for a Driver’s Licence (standard or commercial). Some medicals require specific examinations and tests to be conducted so to ensure that we allocate the appropriate amount of time, please clearly state what type of medical/paperwork you will require when booking in for your appointment.

An ECG (echo cardiogram) is a sonogram of the heart. This means that it uses sound waves to produce a picture of the heart and is generally speaking more accurate than an x-ray. If required these are done through the Baralaba Hospital after seeing the doctor.

Spirometry is a test that assesses your breathing capability and can help in the diagnosis of different lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Audiometry is a test to measure hearing acuity for variations in sound intensity, pitch and tonal purity, involving thresholds and differing frequencies.

Our skilled doctor is able to perform minor surgical procedures in our dedicated treatment room.

Typically, chronic diseases are long-lasting, and have persistent effects. Chronic diseases can range from mild conditions, such as short-sightedness, dental decay and minor hearing loss, to debilitating arthritis and low back pain, and to life-threatening heart disease and cancers.

One example of chronic disease is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a serious, progressive and disabling condition that limits airflow to your lungs. It includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. The symptoms often involve shortness of breath and frequent coughing.

The main cause is active smoking or exposure to smoking, although some people with COPD have never smoked in their lives. Similarly, asthma is also a type of chronic disease of the airways.

To best manage the associated symptoms of chronic disease, our doctors and nurses put together a tailored GP Management Plan (GPMP or Care Plan) or Team Care Arrangement (TCA). To find out more about how this works, click here.

Keeping your ears clean and free of obstruction is important to ensure healthy hearing. The procedure involves flushing out the ears in a safe and effective manner. This procedure is designed to be pain free.

Gynaecology is the medical practice involving the health of the female reproductive systems and body.

We have to send our pathology daily from 12pm to Rockhampton for any necessary pathology tests. This can take time for results to come back. Your doctor will contact you if anything urgent comes from the results, or you will receive a phone call from administration for any abnormal results to book another appointment. Otherwise another consultation can be booked for the results. Note that pathology results can take between 4 – 6 days for completion.
